As I was walking in the warmth of the sunlight today, I thought of the conversation I first had with Nyasha and Jonathan, the story of their coming together. They described really taking their time, as if there was all the time in the world, to get to know each other and to build a firm foundation for their commitment. They talked about their friendship, and the laughter they shared together in that context, before the sparks began to fly, and their love was illuminated. It was a slow burn, but eventually those sparks smoldered into a fire. Today is the solstice, the longest day of the year, with the most light shining from dawn until dusk, so it is the perfect metaphor for taking all the time in the world, or all the light in a day, to nurture this relationship into what it has become. Now, burning bright in the light of the sun, and the warm glow of their love, Nyasha and Jonathan will take the steps towards uniting as one.
